Nervous System Up and Down Regulated
The nervous system has the capacity to completely ignore the environment on the one hand and at other times absorb everything like a slow motion movie which you already know from your experience. Learning/new memories require a more perceptive state. Processing of those memories and making sense of them requires a lower intensity state. Eventually the new information becomes automated which is an even lower intensity
state. These same intensities have to mirror metabolism because the cell needs a lot of sugar to maintain the high intensity state on the one hand, and on the other hand must be able to ‘downshift’ to a lower intensity state in which it must have very little sugar and enough oxygen. Training is simply developing the different intensities or gears (Excitability, Focus, Endurance, Posture and Sleep).
