The opening of the mouth of the cell related to higher blood sugar is insulin. The opening of the mouth to sugar related to ‘stress’ relates the cortisol. Thyroid opens the cell mildly to sugar and is on a daily rhythm with cortisol. Adrenaline opens the mouth of the cell to sugar for short period of time with more extreme excitement/danger. All have an effect on sugar uptake to the cell from upstream. Most people focus on what is going on upstream, but the chemical capacity of the cell to process sugar is limited, and when congested must find a way to reduce the sugar input. The primary goal of training properly is to give the actual cell consistent recovery or processing time, as well an increasing the capacity of the cell. From there, the body might upregulate on its’ own but might realistically need some help if the condition has been going on for a long time.
