Introduction To Turning

image_pdfimage_print

If you were to throw a discus right handed, your entire body would have to turn to the left. The only way this can happen is if your feet are on the ground and your shoes aren’t too slippery. Your pelvis would have to turn to the left due to the action of the legs. Next, your shoulders would turn to the left assuming your legs are still holding your pelvis to the left. The forces start on the ground and work upwards. This is the primary skill in all swinging sports and a major component of gait. Also, this turning action is the best possible thing to learn in order to have a healthy spine. Learn this first.
