Your body functions at varying intensities. Sleep is the lowest intensity and when you are excited you are at the other end. The key to your system functioning involves shifting through the whole range of intensities. Sedation is the process of moving to a lower intensity. Stimulation is the process of moving to a higher intensity. The most common method we use for sedation involves oscillations of the thoracic spine which inhibits the sympathetic nervous system segmentally but there are a number of ways to achieve sedation.
